The Desire of Sarah's Heart

I want what I want, and I want it now! Guiding a child through these desires and feelings can be a challenge. How do you encourage a child’s passion? Is it possible to discourage the part that is not good for them without destroying part of their spirit? God’s Word provides help. Adults who lead with godly wisdom bless the children in their lives.

This story will inspire children to ask questions as they watch Sarah mature in Christ. Share a time in this delightful little girl’s life as she tries to help God grant her the desire of her heart. Hold on to your own heart or run the risk of Sarah taking it captive! Her energetic and sincere personality will keep you wondering what she will say or do next. Tucked away in this story is a beautiful message. The Desire of Sarah’s Heart will strengthen your faith and warm your soul as you read it to children who hold a special place in your heart.

Joye Thackston lives in central Texas, with her husband, Douglas. Her daughter, Kim Dulak, lives nearby with her husband, Ray. Joye and Kim co-authored If Only Donkeys Could Talk, their first book which was published in 2016.

Joye describes The Desire of Sarah’s Heart as a fun project which involved family and friends. Their souls flooded with beautiful memories as they stepped into Sarah’s role and became kids again. Joye and her daughters, Kelly and Kim, all contributed to the main character’s personality. Kim’s behavior as a child inspired the story itself—she pleaded for an elephant for a year and a half.

Growing up with ten siblings and surrounded by people she loved, Joye lived in a kid’s world. She attributes this environment to herself and her family being their happiest when children are present. Blessed with six more kids after marrying Douglas, they have a total of ten. Joye is still surrounded by people she loves.

Joye enjoys crocheting - donating her time and talents to church projects.

Husband, Doug, helps display her most recent blanket.
