2025 Will Have Highs and Lows
Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!!
Welcome to 2025!!
Over the years and as a Youth Pastor, I have had the privilege of mentoring young people. One of those persons is John Hanna. He was in my youth group in the 1980's in Colorado. He went to college and seminary and is now an adjunct professor at a Christian college and known as Dr. John Hanna. He pastors a church in Oregon and has written several books. We are friends on FB and he recently posted the following:(I have permission to share with you)
"Old Testament: Genesis 1:1a, "In the beginning..."
New Testament: John 1:1a, "In the beginning..."
While it's clear John's Gospel is evoking the majestic beauty of Creator God in Genesis now evidenced incarnationally in Jesus, each book goes on to poetically, spiritually, philosophically, and theologically give meaning to this "beginning" that has unfolded.
Today is a new beginning, full of possibilities and potential. But as we also hear of the very tragic events in New Orleans early this morning, we understand well new beginnings come with new woes.
New Year's Day is our new beginning. And as both Genesis and John's Gospel take us on journeys, chapter by chapter, with twists and turns, stories of victories and defeat, accounts of joy and betrayal, discouragements and discovery, 2025 will be a roller-coaster ride. It will have its highs and its lows."
I could not say this any better, but let me add a little something. While 2025 will have its highs and lows we know Jesus will meet us in both places. He is God in the highest mountaintop experiences. He is also God in the lowest of our moments. "I will never leave you or forsake you" are the words of God Himself in Joshua 1:5. Here is what I know, life will continue to throw things at us - financial challenges, physical challenges, spiritual challenges. Here is what I have learned - God is ALWAYS with us! I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds tomorrow and I know Who holds my Hand. Press into Him in 2025 like you never have before. He is our refuge. He is our strength. He will supply every need, many times before we even know we need His touch.
Several in our group are hurting or afflicted today. Please lift them in prayer. I have spoken with several, who just in the last few days are experiencing physical challenges. I have spoken with one who is battling discouragement and depression. You are probably aware of others who need our encouragement and prayers. Please reach out to them and don't hesitate to reach out to me.
You are loved. Your prayed for. Lift up your eyes - Jesus is coming soon!
