9/26/2024 India (International Christian Concern) — Supriya’s Christian parents never imagined their daughter’s life beyond their poor economic circumstances in India. They always believed that poverty was their fate and, therefore, hers.

However, after Supriya, a second grader, started attending International Christian Concern’s

Hope House in India three months ago, her confidence swelled, and her grades improved, giving her parents hope that she might be able to emerge from the poverty that has held their family down.

“We are thrilled to see my daughter’s confidence,” her father told ICC. “Her determination to pursue her studies raised my hopes for my daughter.”

Supriya is one of 184 students enrolled in Hope House locations in India. With a quality education, these Christian children will one day break the cycle of poverty and persecution that their families have endured for generations.

Supriya’s parents have worked various day labor jobs to provide for their family. They had expected a similar future for Supriya, but now they believe the quality education she is receiving will help her avoid the hardships and discrimination they’ve faced. They also believe she’ll one day obtain a job with a fair wage.

Despite initially struggling with reading and academic performance, Supriya has made significant progress during the past three months, thanks to her teacher’s dedicated support and tailored lessons. Previously hesitant and fearful, Supriya has gained confidence and actively participates in all the center’s activities.

Her improved academic performance is reflected in her diligent completion of homework, and it’s heartening for her parents to see her embracing the joy of learning and academic growth.

Supriya’s parents wholeheartedly appreciate ICC and express deep gratitude for the invaluable blessings it has brought to their family and the neighboring community.
