Be Ready All the Time

Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!
Luke 12:39-40 - “Everyone would be ready for him if they knew the exact hour of his return-just as they would be ready for a thief if they knew when he was coming. So be ready all the time. For I, the Messiah, will come when least expected." TLB
Do you ever procrastinate? I do. Since we have become grandparents, Kris gets away as often as she can to Oklahoma to see them. More often than not, I cannot go with her. So, I am home alone. When I am alone the house looks quite different than when Kris is there. The dishes don’t quite make it to the dishwasher, the clothes don’t quite make it to the laundry room, the usual “husband at home alone” stuff. One thing I always make sure to do is find out when she leaves OKC. Why? I know exactly how long it takes her to get home meaning I know exactly how much time I have to get the house back in order. But you know what? One time I decided just to keep things the way she would like them. I made the bed every day, I picked up my clothes (which she never has to do anyway!), I washed the dishes, I even cleaned the house! When she called and said she was on her way home...I just relaxed and hung out because everything was done. No need to hurry and get things ready.
Are you getting the point. Sometimes we just don’t take care of the things we should in our spiritual journey. We let things slide. After all, people have been saying for a couple of thousand years that Jesus is coming back and I don’t see it happening tomorrow. So, let’s just put it off today and enjoy my little self-centered lifestyle a little longer. Watch out! When we least expect it - Jesus will come just like a thief in the night. No, it is much better just to be ready all the time. Take care of the stuff that would hinder your relationship with God...RIGHT NOW! Take care of those broken relationships. Take care of those offenses you have been carrying around. Take care of that bitterness, envy, lust... Get ready! The bottom line is this, we don’t know when Jesus is coming back. But when He comes you had better have everything in order. He is only coming back again once.
You are loved and prayed for,
Pastor Roger
