He Answered Me

Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!

Psalm 3:3-4 – “But You, O Lord, are a shield around me; You are my glory, the One who holds my head high.  I cried out to the Lord, and He answered me from His holy mountain.”

Wars. Soaring crime. Sky rocketing prices. Daily uncertainty. Health concerns. Family concerns.  Have I addressed them all?  You can probably add several other things that weigh heavy on your mind and heart.  If so, you are no different than the Psalmist who earlier in this Psalm says, “…so many are against me….”  The writer is specifically speaking of enemies, but aren’t the circumstances that come against us enemies? I think so. The enemy of our soul uses all these circumstances and more to beat us down to the point of desperation and worse depression.  The fear of getting sick with a disease that could lead to death, the fear of not having enough money to pay all the bills – these are real enemies, if you, will that wage war against us daily.  The writer also cried out and the Lord heard Him from His mighty mountain.  I love this imagery for two reasons.  One, the surety God hears our cries and two, He hears from the mountain which tells me He is above all things and able to see all things coming against me.  The writer finishes with these soothing responses – 5 - “I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. 6 I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side.”  And finally in verse 8 – “Victory comes from you, O Lord. May you bless your people.”

Live today and tomorrow and the next day with this assurance – The Lord hears, the Lord sees and the Lord is victorious on our behalf.  God loves you more than you can ever imagine, and He is watching from His mighty mountain.

You are loved and prayed for,
Pastor Roger
