Are You Patient as you Wait on the Lord

Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!
Psalm 40:1-3 - “I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out from the bog and the mire, and set my feet on a hard, firm path, and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God.” TLB
Waiting on the Lord is a hard thing. Especially when we believe the time is right for a particular event or thing to come into our lives. It is also hard to wait when we have been wounded and we are waiting for His comforting touch. Waiting patiently is something most of us just can’t(won’t) do.
We are impatient in traffic. We are impatient for things to come into our lives. We are impatient with our children/grandchildren. We are impatient with our pastor(really?). We are impatient with our doctor, our teacher, our parents.... I like what James has to say about patience in his letter, chapter 1 verses 2-4 - “Dear brothers, is your life full of difficulties and temptations? Then be happy, for when the way is rough, your patience has a chance to grow. So let it grow, and don't try to squirm out of your problems. For when your patience is finally in full bloom, then you will be ready for anything, strong in character, full and complete.” TLB (emphasis mine)
When we have learned to be patient, we lack nothing. What a great truth. When we have learned patience, we are better equipped to see God’s bigger picture which helps us wait on His timing in all things. When we have learned patience, our priorities become focused and right. Things we thought we needed now look unimportant. Circumstances we wanted to hurry up and happen, or not happen, now no longer matter because we are patiently waiting on God who has a better way.
I like the old song that says in the chorus - “He puts a song in my heart today, a song of Praise, Hallelujah!” Did you have even enough patience to get to the end of this devotional? Wait on the Lord today - He will give you a song of praise.
You are loved and prayed over,
Pastor Roger
