Fearful of What Lies Ahead?
Greetings in the Strong Name of Jesus!
Future Grace!
Deuteronomy 31:3 – “But the Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you. He will destroy the nations living there, and you will take possession of their land. Joshua will lead you across the river, just as the Lord promised.” NLT
I once read a book by Phillip Yancey entitled, “Future Grace”. As I reflected on today’s scripture I was reminded of his book. I am particularly focusing on this part of the verse, “But the Lord your God himself will cross over ahead of you....”
We so often become fearful of moving forward with God because we are fearful of what lies ahead. The Children of Israel were concerned about these same things especially since they knew Moses would not be going with them. They were also afraid of those things in front of them they saw as obstacles standing between them and the great promises of God concerning the Promised Land. But Moses had a word from the Lord saying not to be afraid. Why? Because God Himself was going ahead of them to take care of the problems and situations confronting them.
What a great promise to carry with us today. The premise of Yancey’s’s book was this. Wherever you are headed “God has already been there”. (to borrow a quote from my good friend Ted) God had already been to the Promised Land and knew exactly what business He had to take care of to make it ready for the Children of Israel. The same is true for you and me today. Wherever God is leading us, He has already been there and measured enough of His grace to provide strength and wisdom to carry us through the circumstance.
What are you facing today? God has already been there. That future grace is waiting for you just around the corner in a bottle. Why a bottle? Because I like to think of His grace being poured out on me like the anointing oil used to anoint the priests and Kings. Enough oil to flow down over my face and clothing so that I am completely immersed in His grace. Being completely immersed, or drenched, in His grace allows me to face the obstacles with power and authority. No fear here...too much grace. Reach for that precious bottle of “future grace” right now and pour it over your head. Let it flow down over you and become drenched in the peace and strength of your Heavenly Father. Then move forward with power and authority over the obstacles and walk in victory.
Grace, grace. God’s grace. Grace that will pardon and cleanse within! Wow! Have an awesome day.
You are loved, Pastor Roger
